Es gibt dazu Fernsehserien, Filme, Comic-Adaptionen und eine unlesbare Computerübersetzung ins Englische. Hier liegt nun die erste „richtige“ Übersetzung dieses „Herr-der-Ringe“ Chinas vor, wobei diese Einordnung ein wenig fragwürdig ist, da sich die Condorhelden-Bücher bei all ihren Fantasy-Elementen auf konkrete historische Ereignisse und Personen beziehen – und auf andere bekannte Werke der chinesischen Literatur, wie „Die Rebellen in den Marschen.“​Wir befinden uns weiterhin im 13. Jahrhundert. ​Guo Jin und Lotus haben sich von den Orten ihrer Kindheit getrennt und ziehen nun gemeinsam durch die Welt. Und dieser Großmeister ist ein Gefangener von Guos prospektivem Schwiegervater, denn er hütet einen Schatz, den dieser unbedingt erlangen möchte: das Neu-Yin-Handbuch, ein zweibändiges Buch über Daoistische Lehre und gerade vernichtende Kampfkunst, dass alle Vertreter des Wulin über alles begehren. Und da der im Wald versteckt lebende Gefangene ein großer Scherzkeks im Sinne von Sun Wukong, dem Affengott, ist, beschließt er nicht nur den wesentlich jüngeren Guo zu seinem Kampfesbruder zu machen, denn für einen Schüler ist dieser mittlerweile – ohne es zu wissen – bereits viel zu weit fortgeschritten und erlaubt sich einen überaus weitreichenden Scherz mit ihm, der die gesamte Wulin-Welt aufwirbeln wird.Noch mehr schräge Gestalten, tiefe Gefühle, teils hochnotpeinlicher Stolz und haarsträubende Kämpfe – durchsetzt mit Zitaten aus wirklichen daoistischen Texten und einigen altehrwürdigen Kampfkunsttraktaten. Weiterhin überaus unterhaltsam und deswegen mehr als empfehlenswert. ZU schade, dass man auf den nächsten Teil nochmals ein Jahr lang warten muss.

I couldn't stop reading!

I'd seen a few movie versions of Condor Heroes and wanted to read the original since some things needed stringing together that the intended audience (Chinese and Hong Kong audiences who HAD read the book already) would already know. So I picked this up and it's loads of fun. Very episodic (since it was published originally as a serial in Jin Yong's own newspaper) and that makes it even more fun to gobble up. People liken it to a kung fu movie, but I'd say it's much closer to reading a comic book, with a thousand characters and a rambling story following the fun adventures of superpowered heroes. (This is Vol 2 by the way. These really have to be read in order.)

When you want to understand the Chinese psyche ... these books are the early paths towards that goal. For anyone who wants a clearer understand of the Chinese culture, these novels provides you a compelling yet enjoyable narrative of a 5000 year old civilisation

I read Chinese version when I was a teens, and I wish my kids read it as well. However, my kids born in California have limited Chinese reading capability, so I bought this for them. They love it. Can't wait for the next books published.

When I first read the book I did not expect such a rich world and well developed characters. It hooked me instantly. Highly recommend!

I love the 2 books so far. This might be a dumb question...but why are the two paper back different sizes? This is annoying me more than it should...
